Leading data centers into a new era

Necessity is said to be the mother of invention and Singapore has proven that through its history and through its development as a data center hub. Its estimated capacity of over 600 MW is located on a small island with no fossil fuel resources and limited access to renewables. Singapore has prospered through innovation that has woven data centers and technology into the fabric of the state as a key to the future. Combined with social stability, transparency and various rankings for doing business where it is always in the Top Ten, this creates a sought-after ecosystem in which to locate a data center.  But the data center landscape is changing and the data center of the future will be denser, better connected, more automated, more reliant on sources of renewable energy and more reliant on specialist skill sets. How will Singapore manage this upcoming wave of changes in order to retain its premium status globally?

8:55 AM
Chairman Speech
9:00 AM
Keynote: What are the key factors that will impact Singapore’s place in the world?

Singapore continues to play a key role in the global digital ecosystem as a gateway into South East Asia and the wider Asia Pacific region. Additionally,  digital demand is generated by its role as a major financial, commercial and logistics hub.  How will Singapore’s role change over the next few years?  What will be the challenges? And the opportunities?

9:25 AM
Panel: What are investors looking for from their datacenter investments and how is this impacting the sector?

What is the current view of datacenters among the investment community?  What are the factors influencing sentiment? Which locations are attracting interest? What is the future view of the sector?

10:10 AM
Keynote: Designing and building the urban data center

Space is a valuable and limited resource in many cities across the Asia Pacific. As local demand rises, how can design and construction meet the challenges of building in high density urban environments?

10:30 AM
Coffee Break
11:00 AM
Keynote: Latest strategy and technology in cooling and heat removal for data centers

The challenge presented by cooling and heat removal is one of the most considered and discussed in the data center ecosystem. As a tropical city, the issue is of particular relevance to Singapore.  What is the latest thinking on cooling challenges and strategies and what will upcoming technological advances bring?

11:20 AM
Panel: What lies ahead for Singapore’s datacenter sustainability efforts?

Singapore has for a long time demonstrated the leadership in sustainability required to host a considerable number of datacenters with limited local energy resources. Target outcomes have been achieved through legislation, improved management practices and technological innovation.  How will Singapore’s initiatives move forward into the future and what factors will influence change?

12:00 PM
Keynote: How are Singapore’s MTDCs adapting to changing demand sources and profiles?

How will  Singapore’s multi-tenant datacenters need to adapt in order to fulfill their key role in local and regional digital transformation? What will be the investment priorities in order to  develop and maintain the necessary services and infrastructure? What are the key challenges and opportunities ahead?

12:25 PM
Lunch Break
2:00 PM
Keynote: AI, IoT and robots: how Singapore’s digital infrastructure will co-opt emerging technologies to drive efficiency, resilience and capacity?

The ‘skills shortage’, increasing labour costs, the need to keep people separated during the pandemic and the minimization of operational risk have increased deployment of digital technologies in data center management and operation.

Which particular data center techs and solutions will make the greatest difference to performance, sustainability and resilience over the next few years?  What will be the key tasks and targets for IoT, AI/ML, robotics, VR/AR and other emerging technologies?

2:20 PM
Industry Panel: Singapore's future edge path?

In keeping with its leadership position, the roll out of Edge computing deployments across Singapore is turning Edge from a future promise into an active reality. This session looks at local case studies that illustrate this. So, join to discover more about the strategies and the deployment logistics that bring different forms of Edge to life.

3:00 PM
Keynote: Dealing with Scope 3 and sustainability in the supply chain

This expert presentation will look at how supply chain issues are likely to play out for Singapore as well as the issues raised by Scope 3, and approaches that can be used to integrate Scope 3 into an effective sustainability strategy.

3:25 PM
Break
3:45 PM
Keynote: New ways of looking at datacenter power

Power sourcing, distribution, consumption, protection and storage are all put regularly into the spotlight as datacenters globally look to minimise power wastage and squeeze the greatest possible return from increasing power costs. What are the systems and technologies that will transform the journey of power into and inside datacenters and reduce the aspects of wastage seemingly inherent in that process?

4:10 PM
Panel Discussion: Post-moratorium: re-defining Singapore's value proposition?

Where there is choice, people and businesses buy values as much as they do products or services.  Singapore’s acknowledged role as a global digital hub is based on a market-relevant and unique proposition and delivery on it. What are the core values that Singapore as a datacenter location stands for? How will the moratorium have changed these? And how does the continuing evolution of Indonesia, Malaysia, India, the Philippines, Thailand impact the established role of Singapore as gateway and digital harbour for these (and other) markets, and therefore its space in the investor mind set?
