Bangladesh Cloud & Datacenter Convention 2023

The digital market in Bangladesh has been on a constant rise, the current market size of the digital commerce industry is at $3.1 billion and is expected to grow further. Tax exemptions and repatriation of capital, given by the Government of Bangladesh have helped facilitate investment in the IT sector of Bangladesh.

With the favorable demographic dividends, rising incomes, and favorable policies for the adoption of massive digitization by banks, financial institutions, and large corporate houses and a growing internet user base, the demand for technology-supporting facilities, especially data centers are expected to increase – forging ahead an economic development at an exponential rate in Bangladesh.

The GoB has already spent approximately USD 6,000 Mn in digitizing airports, initiating smart grid projects, and commencing digital connectivity projects, among others. A strong resurgence in enterprise-level demand, driven by financial, technology, and healthcare companies, called for a high-end efficiency in data center and security levels.

Due to the vision of ‘Digital Bangladesh’, the Government of Bangladesh has plans to make robust investments in large-scale technology-based projects, such as opening new data centers. One such case has been the introduction of Hi-Tech parks, it will only increase.

The world’s seventh-largest data center – the government-owned National Data Centre in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City, has been saving the country’s foreign currency; millions of dollars by reducing its foreign dependence on data preservation. With the onboarding of global cloud providers to provide sovereign-hosted cloud services to the Bangladesh government, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division, is all set to accelerate the country toward its goal of becoming a “knowledge-based economy” by extending the use of secure, sovereign hosted, enterprise-class cloud and digital technologies to the various government agencies and ministries.

As Bangladesh is already gearing up to provide and upgrade a ready, built and well-established ecosystem for data centers and enterprises to integrate their scale within the region, we, at W.Media, to give a fillip to these efforts, are organizing our 1st Edition of Bangladesh Cloud & Data Centre Convention 2023.

The talk points will revolve around the way ahead for Bangladesh to have a pervasive digital infrastructure established which will be seen as a mark of definite progress – a powerful step towards achieving the title of a digitally savvy nation in line with the ‘Digital Bangladesh’ agenda.
