European pioneer in edge data centers, Etix Everywhere, has launched ETIX BKK#2 data centre facility worth €220 million (US$ 257 million) with the completion of its core and shell, according to local paper, Bangkok Post last week. This increases its total data center capacity to 28 megawatts (MW) made up of 23MW to be provided by ETIX BKK#2, and 5MW by the adjacent ETIX BKK#1. The latter, located in Bangkok, currently has 2MW available, said Pierre Patris, CEO of Etix Everywhere Asia.
“The development of ETIX BKK#1 allowed us to multiply our capacity by six times in just three years. The launch of ETIX BKK#2 with an additional 23MW is coming at the right time,” Patris said, adding that customers of its second facility, spanning 16,000 square metres, will benefit from the same telecom ecosystem as its first data center.
Etix Everywhere has also released a white paper on “Data Center Trends in Thailand 2025″, detailing how Thailand is now entering a new era underscored by record-breaking capacity growth, rising hyperscaler investment and an accelerating shift towards artificial intelligence (AI)-driven infrastructure.
According to the paper, Thailand with its current 53 data centres, has surpassed Indonesia in operational capacity, with more than 150 MW live and over 500 MW under development. Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) where all the action is, is evolving into a strategic hub for AI training, caching and hyperscale campuses. Driving this is a convergence of factors namely foreign ownership flexibility, access to pre-approved energy and fibre infrastructure, and various incentives from Thailand’s Board of Investment. Thailand is Etix Everywhere’s only Asia Pacific presence at the moment.
In February, W. Media has published an opinion suggesting that Thailand has the capability to become a regional data center hub or even surpass Malaysia.
