ESR Group Limited, a real estate investment trust (REIT) and logistics real estate platform, announced the successful completion of the core and shell of its flagship data center project, ESR Cosmosquare OS1 Data Centre (“OS1”), in Nanko Kita, Osaka, Japan.

The completion of OS1 marks a significant milestone for ESR’s data center strategy in Japan, where the demand for cloud services is rapidly increasing. Driven by sectors such as manufacturing, automotive, finance, healthcare, and government services, Japanese companies are increasingly migrating their IT workloads to cloud-based solutions. This shift is enabling businesses to leverage the benefits of scalability, flexibility, and efficiency.

The OS1 data center is the first phase of a three-phase development project, with a total capacity of 130 megawatts. The entire campus, valued at US$2 billion, is strategically located within 10 kilometers of major internet and telecommunication exchanges in Osaka.

ESR’s commitment to the data center sector extends beyond Japan. The Group is actively expanding its data center portfolio across the Asia-Pacific region, with a pipeline of over 2 gigawatts of land and projects. This growth is fueled by the increasing demand for data center capacity to support digital transformation and cloud adoption.

The OS1 data center is expected to be fully operational in May 2025 and will provide 25 megawatts of data center capacity.
