Global colocation specialist Equinix has recently topped out its second data center in Johor, JH2, according to its senior director of IBX Operations, Singapore, Malaysia & Indonesia, Gavin O’Reilly in his Linkedin post. Phase 1 of JH2 with 7.2MW capacity is scheduled to be completed by late 2026 or 2027. JH2 is adjacent to JH1, forming a cluster. It will be liquid-cooled for private AI workload, according to a source.

Spread across 205,967 sq ft in Nusajaya Tech Park (NTP) in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, the 6MW JH1 facility is only 15kms away from Singapore. With an initial investment of US$ 40 million, JH1 provides up to 500 cabinets and 19,375 square feet of colocation space. The facility was launched in 2024.

The company’s plan, according to the same source, is to acquire more land to build up to a 77MW campus.

The company has one operational data center in Malaysia, KL1, which is located in Cyberjaya. It expects to provide a total of 900 cabinets and colocation space of 28,309 square feet, when fully built out. A second data center in Cyberjaya, KL2 is currently being developed.

Both JH1 and KL1 enable dual-metro deployment.
