Equinix, a digital infrastructure firm, and Astra, a multinational Indonesian corporation, have teamed up to establish and manage JK1, a data center at Jakarta’s International Business Exchange.
Equinix and Astra have formed a joint venture with Equinix holding 75% equity and Astra holding the remaining 25%, to establish a company. The newly formed joint venture will initially construct and manage a new data center at Jakarta’s International Business Exchange with plans for additional growth across Indonesia in the future.
The data center industry in Indonesia is among the fastest growing markets in South East Asia. Big Data Exchange (BDx), a data center, colocation, and hybrid cloud solutions provider in the Asia Pacific, recently announced the ground-breaking ceremony for their new data center named CGK3A in Jakarta, Indonesia.
According to Avnish Patankar, Commercial Director of BDx Indonesia, the facility will feature the latest data center technology, including advanced cooling systems and robust security measures, to ensure the highest levels of performance and protection for their clients’ valuable data.
Indonesia was ranked second in the Knight Frank SEA-5 Data Center Opportunity Index released yesterday with a GDP growth of 5.3% in 2022.
