Equinix has appointed former Vocus executive Jarrod Nink as managing director for Australia, handing leadership of its local operations to one of the country’s most experienced telecommunications and digital infrastructure executives. Based in Sydney, Nink takes immediate responsibility for Equinix’s Australian business, overseeing strategy, customer growth and operations across the company’s portfolio of 18 data centres in six metropolitan markets. He will report to Cyrus Adaggra, president, Asia-Pacific at Equinix.
The appointment comes as Australia’s data centre market enters a new phase of AI-driven investment, with hyperscale cloud providers, AI developers and enterprise customers driving record demand for compute infrastructure, interconnection and high-capacity connectivity. Nink brings more than 25 years’ experience spanning telecommunications, fibre infrastructure, subsea cable systems and data centres.
Most recently he served as interim chief executive of enterprise, government, wholesale and infrastructure at Vocus Group, having previously held the positions of chief operating officer and chief executive of wholesale and international.
Before joining Vocus in 2018, he was chief executive of Three UK (formerly H3G UK) and held a series of senior executive roles during almost a decade at Vodafone Australia. His appointment also returns him to the data centre sector, having previously led infrastructure businesses responsible for terrestrial fibre, cable landing stations and wholesale connectivity serving cloud and data centre operators.

Danskine to the US
The appointment follows the relocation of former Australian managing director Guy Danskine to the United States earlier this year, where he assumed responsibility for Equinix’s Western US business after six years leading the Australian operation. During his tenure, Equinix expanded across four Australian markets and opened its first xScale hyperscale facility.
Nink joins Equinix after a brief stint at Macquarie Group, where he served as a transaction adviser following his departure from Vocus. During that time he also highlighted the growing strategic importance of AI infrastructure, noting that AI represented “a fundamental driver of digital infrastructure demand and transformation” as increasing compute requirements reshape demand for data centres, energy and connectivity.
