ePLDT, the PLDT Group company that manages data centers and multi-cloud solutions, has strengthened its position as the dominant data center in the country with the completion of multiple capacity expansion projects at its renowned VITRO data centers in Makati and Parañaque.
According to Victor Genuino, ePLDT president and chief executive, in terms of data center colocation space in the country, their 10 Vitro data centers own about a 65 percent power share, based on the most recent Structure Research Data Center Industry Report.
“We continue to expand and transform our existing facilities to ensure these are always at par with hyperscalers’ global standards. Simultaneously, we are progressing with the construction of ePLDT’s 11th state-of-the-art data center in Sta. Rosa, Laguna,” said Genuino.
As part of the transformation, VITRO Makati 2 and Parañaque will be expanded, adding 1,820 more racks that will be operational as early as March of this year and an additional 14 megawatts to VITRO’s overall power capacity.
Moreover, Genuino said that they’ve added more space to the fourth and fifth floors of VITRO Makati 2, and they’re actively expanding VITRO Parañaque.
As they get ready for the debut of VITRO Sta Rosa in the first quarter of 2024, these expansions will enable them to meet the demanding requirements of their current clientele while also offering more capacity to new clients this year.
As a PLDT subsidiary, ePLDT is focused on the growth of data centers. By utilizing the ongoing shift to online transactions, it serves as an enabler for digital adoption.
In order to draw hyperscale investors to the Philippines, the PLDT arm is likewise investing on the development and expansion of data centers.
