Empyrion Digital has announced today its strategic expansion into Taiwan with the development of a 7MW edge colocation data center in Neihu, Taipei. This move comes at a crucial time when Taiwan’s energy grid is facing strain, making it challenging for new data center entrants.
Located in the heart of Taipei’s technology hub, Neihu, the TW1 data center is strategically positioned to cater to the needs of gaming, electronics, and tech companies. Its advanced design is optimized for high-performance AI computing, a growing demand that traditional data centers struggle to meet.
Empyrion Digital aims to differentiate itself through sustainability by incorporating advanced cooling technology and building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). This approach is expected to achieve a PUE rating of 1.33 or lower and a WUE of nearly net zero, aligning with Taiwan’s growing emphasis on green technology.
Taiwan, a global semiconductor powerhouse and a hub for technology and R&D, is emerging as a key data center market in North Asia. The increasing demand from domestic and international cloud, content providers, and enterprises, coupled with limited supply, presents a significant opportunity for Empyrion Digital.
By 2025, the company aims to grow its pan-Asian platform to over 170MW across Singapore, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.
