EDGNEX by DAMAC to invest US$ 20 Billion to develop data centers in the US

Hussain Sajwani announces at Trump press conference that UAE's EDGNEX Data Centers by DAMAC to invest $20B in the US

Dubai-headquartered global digital infrastructure company EDGNEX Data Centers by DAMAC, has announced its strategic entry in data centers into the United States market. The announcement was made during an address by US President elect Donald Trump in Florida, on Tuesday. In fact, it was Trump who invited Hussain Sajwani, Founder, DAMAC, to make the announcement.

“We have been waiting four years to increase our investment in the US,” said Sajwani acknowledging the incoming Trump administration’s “open strategy and policy to encourage businesses”. Sajwani went on to share his investment and expansion plans saying, “We plan to invest US$ 20 billion dollars, and even more than that if the market allows us.” He went on to say that the investment will be in “data centers catering for the AI and Cloud business for the hyperscalers.”

According to a press release, this expansion will deliver state-of-the-art data centers targeting a 2000MW capacity over the next four years. The expansion plan will focus on sunbelt states specifically Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Louisiana and mid-west states: Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana.

The first phase includes capacity build-up through joint ventures with partners, acquiring land banks in conjunction with utilities, and acquiring existing data centers and platforms. It will represent approximately 500MW capacity—one in the Sunbelt and one in the Midwest. This will meet the growing current demand as EDGNEX continues to scale.

After, Sajwani left the podium, Trump resumed his speech and promised, “Hussain we are going to work with you and ensure everything goes smoothly.”

EDGNEX has been making a series of announcements about investments in regions outside the Middle East. We had previously reported that EDGNEX was planning to build a 40 MW data center in Spain and a 10 MW facility in Bangkok, scheduled for operation in 2026.

EDGNEX’s existing data center portfolio is spread across 10 countries in Europe, Middle East and East Asia. These include the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Greece, Spain, Finland and Italy. By 2026, EDGNEX aims to have over 300MW+ operational globally.
