EdgeMode, a global energy and AI-focused data center infrastructure company, has signed a definitive agreement with Blackberry AIF (BAIF) to acquire and develop five major data center sites in Spain.
The assets will be transferred to a new special purpose vehicle (SPV) with EdgeMode holding a 75 percent stake and BAIF 25 percent. EdgeMode will finance the projects and advance them through Ready-to-Build (RTB) status, according to the firm’s press release.
The portfolio represents over 1.5GW of planned Tier 3 data center capacity, making it one of the largest AI-focused infrastructure initiatives currently underway in Europe.
Each site could reach sale valuations of up to US$ 1 million per megawatt to accommodate the European demand for hyperscale and AI-compute facilities.
Charlie Faulkner, EdgeMode CEO, said, “The agreement “transforms EdgeMode into a large-scale developer of AI-ready data center capacity in a strategic European market.”
BAIF CEO, Jose Mora, said, “Complementary capabilities, local development execution and international capital markets reach to create significant long-term value.”
Both companies aim to accelerate the sites’ progression to RTB and eventual construction that the partnership leverages. Spain’s advantages in land, power, and demand emphasize that AI compute growth is constrained more by power than by capital or customer demand.
The move underscores EdgeMode’s expansion into Europe’s AI infrastructure market, reflecting growing demand for large-scale, institutional-grade data centers capable of supporting AI compute workloads.
