Eaton, a multinational power management company, has expanded its portfolio through the acquisition of American brand Tripp Lite, to build a new customer base in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Tripp Lite was an American supplier of power quality products and connectivity solutions, that was acquired by Eaton last year.
At the announcement of the acquisition, which took place in 2021, Ashraf Yehia, Managing Director at Eaton Middle East, affirmed that “this important acquisition will strengthen our Power Quality portfolio as Tripp Lite specialises in data center infrastructure and power offerings including UPS, battery packs, UPS battery backups, power distribution units and a broad portfolio of data center hardware.”
Enhancing IT Services, Connectivity, and Edge Services
Since Eaton’s acquisition of Tripp Lite, its product portfolio has expanded with additionally-developed capabilities to support distributed IT and edge applications. As Tripp Lite’s product portfolio complements Eaton’s product range well, Eaton will have a broad-based ability to support edge applications and distributed networks for end-user vertical markets, data centers, and e-commerce business.
Eaton’s new product lines, which originated from Tripp Lite’s brand, will provide managed service providers and resellers with the opportunity to break into the market for power infrastructure and connectivity, by incorporating Tripp Lite’s server racks and enclosures into their operations.
In addition, Eaton is also offering cable and connectivity products such as docking stations, KVM switches, along with other peripheral offerings and accessories.
Eaton expressed its optimism that the Tripp Lite would bolster Eaton’s offerings to its customers.
Jean-Marc Emonet, Marketing and Product Line Manager, Distributed Power Quality, Critical Systems Division, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, said “Tripp Lite and Eaton have worked with customers for many years to navigate rapidly changing technology landscapes. The evolution continues, with Eaton becoming a single source of power products and accessories for IT channel distributors thanks to its Tripp Lite acquisition.”
Emonet added that “we have noted how the trend for hybrid home and office working has resulted in high demand for videoconferencing systems and new types of meeting rooms that require a lot of connectivity. Our newly-expanded portfolio means we can support IT distributors and resellers to respond to this opportunity.”
