Dubai Roads and Transport Authority partners with AWS

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has entered into a cooperation agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS), to take the next step in it transition to cloud computing. The agreement was signed by Mohammed AlMudharreb, (CEO, Corporate Technology Support Sector, RTA), and Wojciech Bajda (Managing Director, Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) – Middle East, Turkey and Africa, AWS).

According to a press release, “The agreement aims to support the authority’s journey in transitioning to cloud computing, and to exchange knowledge, best practices and approaches on areas of common interest in the field of application programming, artificial intelligence, data solutions in addition to augmented reality, virtual reality, and the Internet of Things.”

Speaking on the occasion, Al-Mudhareb said, “This agreement serves the Authority’s efforts to enhance its leadership and achieve its directions in transitioning to cloud computing, by employing the latest innovations to keep pace with technological development in the field of technologies, through cooperation with specialized companies from the private sector, including Amazon Web Services.”

Meanwhile, Wojciech Pajda said, “This cooperation with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority represents an important step towards enhancing digital transformation in the region. We are proud to begin supporting the Authority in using cloud computing and artificial intelligence to improve its services and promote innovation in Dubai.”

Dubai has been making strong and steady strides towards achieving it digital transformation goals, taking several notable steps towards providing even governance as well as public utility services to citizens at the click of a button. For example, the Dubai Electrical and Water Authority (DEWA) already has a dedicated digital arm and Moro Hub is world renowned for using solar power to run its data center.
