Driving sustainability, market trends, strategies: Key highlights at Legrand Day – Data Center Summit 2023

“Either you move to colocation or keep data on premise, the best practices we recommend is the same. It is to ensure that for any electrical systems you deploy, it will be a system that provides Data. Without data you can’t measure the efficiency or in-efficiencies of your infrastructure.”

This was the insight shared by Achraf Hegazy, Legrand Group Indonesia’s country manager, during the Legrand Day – Data Center Summit 2023 which was held on 7th of June 2023. He added that to enable the data center industry to progress effectively, there must be a focus on critical electrical systems that provide data to enable efficient management.

As part of the Data Center Summit, an overview of the local market trends to more than 250 attendees provided by Frost and Sullivan revealed key industries driving market growth which include financial services, network and IT service providers, hyperscale cloud providers, and content and digital media. The deployment of 5G, the rise of edge data centers, and the involvement of hyperscale cloud providers and OTT participants/cloud solution providers were expected to further propel data center growth in Indonesia over the next 2-3 years.

Hendra Suryakusuma, Chairman at Indonesia Data Center Provider Organization (IDPRO), highlighted that digitalization and digital transformation in both the private and public sectors are seen as major drivers of the data center market’s expansion.

Agus Hartono Wijaya, President Director and CEO of BDx Indonesia, emphasized the importance of operational resilience and the need for a strong foundation within data centers.

The discussions at the Legrand Day – Data Center Summit 2023 also centred around strategies for energy-efficient data center infrastructure, encompassing reliable power distribution, energy-efficient equipment, effective cooling systems, and efficient monitoring and management systems. Industry certification, accreditation, and track record were highlighted as key factors for success.
