DE-CIX India, which is part of globally renowned Internet Exchange (IX) operator DE-CIX, has formed a strategic partnership with e&, a middle east-based global technology group to establish an Internet corridor between the UAE and India. Together, they aim to provide seamless, high-speed Internet services across the Middle East and India.
This strategic alliance between e& and DE-CIX India aims to bring content closer to users and driving the growth of Internet traffic across the Middle East and India.
“I am thrilled that DE-CIX’s unique solution is now available over e&’s Lowest Latency Network, underpinned by speed and quality in Mumbai,” said Sundhir Kunder, Chief Business Officer at DE-CIX India, said, “It will simplify access for customers on DE-CIX India’s IXs over an existing connection, reducing cost and time to provision while enabling greater control and reach.”
In a LinkedIn post, Kunder delved deeper into what this means, especially vis-à-vis the OTT entertainment landscape. Ever since the outbreak of the COVID19 pandemic, there has been an explosion in OTT content consumption. “In 2019, India had only 2 OTT platforms in the region. Fast forward to 2024, and that number surged to 68 OTT platforms, thanks to the pandemic’s impact on content consumption,” he said, adding, “The OTT subscriber base doubled from 25M in 2019 to 50M in 2024, creating a massive opportunity for seamless digital delivery, which our partnership will serve.” Explaining the role of the partnership in this context he said, “The surge in content consumption, OTT platforms, and digital users in MENA demands a robust, high-speed interconnection. DE-CIX India and e& join forces to meet this need, ensuring seamless, low-latency access to premium content across India and MENA.”
“This collaboration marks a significant milestone in enhancing the capabilities of our SmartHub Internet Exchange in the UAE and the broader region. By leveraging DE-CIX India’s world-class interconnection services, we are committed to delivering unparalleled connectivity and enriching digital experiences for our customers,” said Nabil Baccouche, Group Chief Carrier & Wholesale Officer, e&. “Together, we are paving the way for a more integrated and efficient connectivity framework that will benefit all involved.”
By leveraging their combined strengths, both companies are committed to delivering faster, more reliable connectivity for their customers.
