DayOne, a Singapore-based data center developer, has planned development for a data center in Klaukkala, Nurmijärvi, Finland that could reach 560 MW in total grid power. This initiative follows DayOne’s broader investments in Finland, including a EUR 1.2 billion (US$ 1.4 billion), data center project in Lahti and a joint venture in Kouvola.

According to a press release, DayOne has partnered with Finnish energy company Fortum to support the project’s zoning and grid connection planning. The Municipality of Nurmijärvi has begun processing a preliminary sale of the site to the company, and zoning is underway in the Sudentulli area of northern Klaukkala, though no final land-use decisions have been made. The project is still subjected to government approvals and permits.

Due to its geographical location, the project also requires a permit from the Ministry of Defence and other municipal and regulatory approvals. DayOne has engaged with Finnish authorities and informed relevant ministries of its plans.

The company emphasizes that the Nurmijärvi facility will align with Finland’s national data center roadmap and sustainable infrastructure goals. DayOne is also preparing a framework to support local education, in collaboration with institutions such as Aalto University, including regional environmental and cultural initiatives. At peak, construction is estimated to employ up to approximately 1,000 workers, with long-term operations supporting a gradual ramp-up of up to 700 skilled positions.

Financially, DayOne secured a EUR 1 billion (US$ 1.2 billion) mezzanine financing facility in December 2025 from Brookfield and a sovereign investor to support expansion in Finland and Europe. In January 2026, it finalized over US$ 2 billion in Series C equity financing to accelerate global growth and support platform development in key markets, including Finland.
