The Indonesian government has designated Nongsa Digital Park to be a prime location bolstering Indonesia’s digital transformation. Located in Eastern Batam, which is away from seismic fault lines, Nongsa is a safe location for data centres. As such, Nongsa will be a space for businesses and data centre operators to collaborate and create an integrated digital ecosystem.

Phase 1 of DCF’s Nongsa One is situated on 2.57 hectares of land, and when completed will be a two-storey building with 6 MW of critical IT load. The building will have a gross floor area of 6084.6 square metres, and will be configured within 4 independent data centre halls.

Digital Bridge between Indonesia and Singapore

In a press release statement, DCF, a data centre operations company headquartered in Singapore, affirmed that Nongsa One will bolster growth in Jakarta’s digital economy, especially within its competitive telecommunications industry and robust ICT sector, by being “the home of the digital bridge between Indonesia and Singapore”. The data centre is the neutral infrastructure which will link the two digital economies and make Batam “the crossroad of the digital world”.

Furthermore, Nongsa One is well-equipped to manage strong demand for its data centre services from customers and end users. Notably, DCF has secured connectivity from three subsea providers, two international network service providers, and two business Internet Service Providers (ISPs) which will connect Singapore to Jakarta via the Nongsa Digital Park at DCF’s Nongsa One.

It is an exciting and catalytic growth opportunity for the region as the world economy continues to find new growth in a post pandemic era.” – Ka Vin Wong, Founder & CEO of Data Center First

DCF affirmed that Nongsa One “signals a new wave of international collaboration,” which will bring benefits to businesses across Jakarta and Singapore. Digital native businesses and enterprises in Jakarta may exploit Nongsa One to expand in Sumatra while protecting their currently-deployed digital assets against natural disasters. Singapore-based enterprises and digital natives may also gain faster access to the 273.5 million digital natives in the Indonesian market.
