CtrlS Datacenters Ltd., a major player in Asia’s data center market, is all set to unveil a new data center in Chennai, in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Tier 4 facility has been under construction in Ambattur, and the company will unveil plans surrounding it tomorrow.

In a post on LinkedIn, CtrlS revealed that the state-of-the-art facility will be home to a hyperscale data center spread over 1 million square feet. It will have an IT load capacity of 72 MW. In the run up to the unveiling, CtrlS also inaugurated a new office in Chennai.

CtrlS Datacenters currently has 12 centers with 234 MW capacity across seven major cities in India. These include Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Noida, Lucknow and Patna. CtrlS has ambitious plans for India. It recently announced that it will invest US$ 2 Billion in India over a six-year period.

Lately, CtrlS has been in an expansion mode. In December 2023, CtrlS had launched a new facility named Gandhinagar1 at the Gujarat International Finance Tech (GIFT) City in Gujarat. The ground breaking ceremony for this facility was held on December 22.

The month before that, in November 2023, CtrlS had also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Uttarakhand, a hilly state in northern India, to set up a greenfield Edge data center there. The company said that it will invest Rs 250 crores into the facility that will reach a capacity of 10 MW in the next 8-10 years. The Edge facility will support Industry 4.0 and latency dependent applications. The facility will also have several sustainability features.
