CtrlS Datacenters, a key player in South Asia’s data center landscape, has unveiled its first greenfield data center in Kolkata. Located at Bengal Silicon Valley, New Town, the facility offers 16 MW of IT load capacity in its first phase.
In a press release, CtrlS revealed that the facility is planned to have four phases that will scale over 60 MW, and is part of CtrlS’ Rs. 2,200 crore commitment to building data centers in eastern India. The facility will be AI-ready with provision for high-density racks, and feature energy-efficient cooling systems.
“This launch is a major milestone in our mission to democratize world-class data center infrastructure across India,” said Sridhar Pinnapureddy, Founder & CEO, CtrlS Datacenters. “Eastern India is on the cusp of a digital leap, and with the state’s visionary policies, we’re confident it will emerge as a key hub for innovation and growth.”
Highlighting the strategic advantage, Kallol Sen, EVP & Regional CEO (Kolkata), CtrlS Datacenters, said, “Kolkata’s location is a natural gateway to eastern and northeastern India, as well as neighboring countries. With a deep talent pool and strong government support, it is the perfect base for high-performance, AI-ready data center infrastructure.”
CtrlS further said that the Kolkata facility was built to LEED Platinum standards, and offers a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.40. It also offers carrier-neutral connectivity with four fiber entry points and multiple internet exchanges. The upcoming Digha subsea cable landing station (operational by 2026) and planned future cable stations will further enhance connectivity, delivering faster, localized international routes for global enterprises and cloud providers.
