Converge ICT Solutions Inc. (Converge), a Philippines fiber broadband and technology provider, is considering Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas for two new data centers as it shifts its expansion plans in the Philippines from the Visayas and Mindanao to Luzon to meet growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

The planned facility would be larger than Converge’s existing data center in Angeles, Pampanga, which has an initial capacity of 12 MW and can be expanded to 36 MW.  The move marks a shift from Converge’s position in 2025, when the company considered the Visayas and Mindanao for a 100 MW data center according to a report by inquirer.net.

Dennis Uy, Cofounder and CEO, Converge, told reporters last week  “This is for AI” and “It’s the biggest,” since one of the proposed facilities could have a capacity of 80 MW potentially making it the company’s largest data center.

A hyperscale data center costs at least US$ 10 million per MW. An 80 MW facility could therefore require US$ 800 million in capital expenditure, and the projects would take several years to prepare and develop.

Converge operates facilities in Caloocan, Pasig, and Clark, Pampanga and is also developing a token-based platform that would allow subscribers to access different large language models based on their needs.
