Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is preparing to launch its new data center in Caloocan City within the first quarter of this year, a move aimed at strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure and supporting the company’s expanding operations. Converge CEO and co-founder, Dennis Anthony Uy, stated the company is targeting a March launch for the facility.
The Caloocan data center, with a capacity of 300 racks, will provide crucial support for the internet service provider’s growing operational needs. Paulo Martin Santos, Converge chief network transformation officer, emphasized the importance of building a robust digital ecosystem to meet increasing digital demands and ensure reliable service delivery.
The facility has achieved Tier III certification for its design, signifying adherence to stringent standards for redundancy, maintainability, and uptime. Converge highlights the significance of this certification, noting that few data centers in the Philippines hold this distinction.
Converge is partnering with Super Micro Computer Inc. for the construction and is implementing liquid cooling technology in its servers. This move is projected to reduce energy consumption by up to 40 percent, offering both environmental and cost benefits. The company has previously indicated plans to invest between P6 billion and P7 billion annually in data center expansion.
This new data center comes as Converge is also working to enhance its international connectivity. The company is on track to activate the SEA-H2X submarine cable system this year, a 5,000-kilometer network connecting several markets in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong. Converge is also a participant in the BiFrost Cable System consortium, a 15,000-kilometer project linking the Philippines to Singapore, Indonesia, Guam, and the west coast of North America, also slated for completion this year.
These cable systems are crucial for Converge as they believe that international cable links are essential for the Philippines to develop as a data center hub and attract investments from global tech giants.
