Converge ICT Solutions Inc., a leading fiber broadband provider in the Philippines, is set to significantly increase its investments in data center infrastructure to meet the surging demand for digital storage and processing capabilities.
In a recent interview, Dennis Anthony Uy, CEO and co-founder of Converge, announced the company’s plans to allocate between P6 billion and P7 billion (approximately USD 125 million) annually to expand its data center capacity.
The planned expenditure represents approximately half of Converge’s total capital expenditure (capex) for next year, which is estimated to be between P10 billion and P15 billion. Uy emphasized the importance of continuous investment in technology infrastructure to drive innovation and stay competitive.
Converge has already initiated the construction of a 10-megawatt (MW) data center in Pampanga and a 3-MW hub in Metro Manila, both of which are expected to be completed by next year. These facilities will complement the company’s existing data center capacity of approximately 10 MW.
While Converge is expanding its data center capacity, the company has clarified that it does not intend to offer data center services to other organizations. Instead, the investment is primarily focused on meeting its internal requirements and supporting its growing fiber broadband business.
