Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha says Thailand will open the country to visitors from 46 countries instead of only 10 Covid-19 low-risk countries announced earlier, starting from Nov 1.
He said, “If we wait until everything is fully ready, we’ll be too late. Besides, tourists may choose to go elsewhere,” read the post.
“But this is a risk we must take. I think, like other countries, Thailand is now better equipped to deal with the risk. And we need to learn to live with it.”
“I hope we can hear some good news from the upcoming long holidays,” he concluded.
Tourism aside, the technology industry welcomes this good news and look forward to reconnecting with a rapidly growing Thailand digital economy.
Outlook in Thailand
According to a study by ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, Thailand’s datacentre market is growing at the compound annual growth rate of 16% during 2016 to 2022 in terms of operational square feet. In terms of demand, the market is growing consistently at the compound annual growth rate of 14% during 2016 to 2022.
The outlook for the digital economy and technological innovations in Thailand indicate ample room for more investment in data centres and cloud platforms, especially from hyperscalers who provide the speed, scalability, global reach and agility.
