CapitaLand building AI-ready DC in Chennai

CapitaLand India Trust (CLINT) has announced the commencement of construction on its new data center in Chennai. The facility named CapitaLand Data Centre Chennai 01 (CLDC Chennai 01) is being built in Ambattur’s industrial and IT corridor.

In a LinkedIn post the company said that the facility had a gross power capacity of 54MW, and an IT capacity of 34MW. The facility will be AI-ready and hyperscale designed, and that it would incorporate advanced liquid cooling systems and green building practices.

Taking to LinkedIn, Surajit Chatterjee (MD, Data Centers – India, CapitaLand Investments) said, “As we achieve a significant milestone in the construction of CapitaLand Data Centre, Chennai 01, it’s evident that robust digital infrastructure is foundational to India’s technological advancement. This development goes beyond mere construction; it’s about creating an environment where enterprises and hyperscalers can excel in an increasingly digital world.”

The structural staging for the facility is complete, and its core wall casting has been finalized.
