BW Digital, a subsidiary of BW Group, and Citramas Group have jointly announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at developing a carrier-neutral digital ecosystem within Batam’s Nongsa Digital Park (NDP), Indonesia. This strategic alliance comes in the wake of BW Digital’s acquisition of over 55,000 square meters of land within Citramas-owned Nongsa Digital Park in Batam.
The purpose behind this acquisition is to construct its inaugural data center in Southeast Asia, thus fortifying its portfolio in the Asia-Pacific digital infrastructure realm.
BW Digital operates under the umbrella of BW Group, a globally recognized energy and maritime conglomerate headquartered in Singapore, boasting seven listed companies with a collective market capitalization of approximately US$11 billion.
Conversely, Citramas Group, rooted in Indonesia, spans diverse sectors including shipping and logistics, drilling services, port and ferry terminal infrastructure development, oilfield equipment manufacturing, hospitality, leisure, animation, and film.
The next-generation data center, with a robust capacity of up to 80MW, is being designed to cater to high-density requirements while offering scalable solutions for enterprise, cloud, and AI workloads. Moreover, it aims to assist customers in attaining their objectives for carbon neutrality and overall sustainability.
In their collaborative capacity, BW Digital and Citramas Group will collaborate to furnish a comprehensive suite of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions, co-located within BW Digital’s data center.
This suite will grant customers access to a distinctive range of technology assets and services, encompassing landing infrastructure for new submarine cables, international and domestic connectivity, data storage facilities, and computing power tailored for artificial intelligence and machine learning applications.
