BREAKING: Web Werks signs US$ 2.4 Billion MoU at WEF to build DC park in Karnataka

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has revealed that his state government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 20,000 crores (US$ 2.4 Billion approx.) with Web Werks for the purpose of building a data center park in Bengaluru. The MoU was signed during the World Economic Forum (WEF) that is being held in Davos, Switzerland.

Web Werks is an Indian data center services provider, that runs six Tier III hyperscale facilities in India: two in Mumbai, and one each in Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad and Pune. It offers a variety of services such as colocation, Cloud Solutions and Managed Services.

According to a copy of the MoU shared by the Chief Minister on X (formerly known as Twitter), Web Werks will build a data center and associated infrastructure in Bengaluru, a city that is often referred to as India’s Information Technology (IT) capital, and which is also the capital city of Karnataka. The project construction will commence in 2025 and it will eventually employ as many as 1,000 people.

The MoU says, “Government of Karnataka would facilitate M/s. Web Werks India Pvt. Ltd. to obtain necessary permissions/ registrations/ approvals/ clearances etc. from concerned departments of the State, as per the existing policies/ rules and regulations of the State Governement.”

The minister posted, “Great news from Davos! Karnataka has inked an MOU with Web Werks India Pvt Ltd at the World Economic Forum. We’re set to welcome a massive Rs 20,000 crore investment from Web Werks for a new Data Centre Park in Bengaluru. This is a giant leap in our infrastructure journey. Welcome aboard, Web Werks!”
