Bersama Digital Data Centres (BDDC) celebrated the topping-off ceremony of its Tier-4 data center, BDDC JST1, located in Jakarta, Indonesia. This event comes on the heels of the center’s launch in May 2023.
Minister of Communications and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi emphasized the government’s commitment to advancing national digital infrastructure, with a key focus on expediting the development of the National Data Center (PDN).
Simultaneously, the government supports the growth of the data center industry, particularly recognizing the contributions of private entities such as Bersama Digital Data Centres (BDDC).
BDDC, formed through the acquisition of two urban data centers, is poised to generate a capacity of 60 megawatts, significantly enhancing interconnectivity in Jakarta.
The importance of in-town data centers has grown substantially across various industries, including global and local cloud providers, technology firms, and diverse sectors entering the digital realm, such as finance, banking, insurance, oil, glass, logistics, and manufacturing.
These industries rely heavily on in-town data centers for direct engagement with end-users through applications or the utilization of data storage, processing, and transfer services. Presently, streaming, social media, cloud services, and artificial intelligence (AI) dominate digital activities, underscoring the need for highly reliable data centers, especially in critical sectors like finance.
Angelo Syailendra, President Director of Bersama Digital Data Centres (BDDC), remarked that following the topping-off ceremony, the company plans to expedite the construction of BDDC JST2, with both centers envisioned as vital interconnectivity hubs.
