BBIX Thailand Launches New IX Point at NTT Bangkok 1 Data Center

BBIX Thailand, a joint venture of True IDC and BBIX, will commence “BKK Bangkok No.3 Center” in the NTT Bangkok 1 Data Center to provide IX (Internet Exchange) Service from July 2023.

BBIX Bangkok No.3 Center will be the third Internet Exchange point following BBIX Bangkok No.1 Center (True IDC North Muang Thong) and BBIX Bangkok No.2 Center (NT Bangrak Tower Data Center). The new installation is expected to deliver easier access to BBIX services for content service providers and Internet service providers in Thailand.

In March, NTT announced an investment of THB 3 billion (USD 90 million) through NTT Global Data Centers Corporation for the development of its newest and largest data center in Thailand.

Thailand’s data center and cloud services markets are expected to grow between 2022 and 2027 thanks to a digitally-savvy population and the government’s efforts to promote a more connected society. A research report shows that the data center market is projected to hit a CAGR of 8.8%, while the cloud service market is expected to reach a CAGR of 21.0%.

The new Bangkok 3 Data Center (BKK3) will start operations in the second half of 2024 and will provide a maximum IT capacity of 12MW across approximately 4,000 m² of IT space when fully built out, the company said in a statement.

Located 57 km from Bangkok Central at the Eastern Economic Corridor’s Amata City Chonburi industrial estate, the new infrastructure caters to hyperscalers and enterprises, providing them with flexible and scalable IT infrastructure, optimum power efficiency and cost-effectiveness to support high densities of up to 30kW per rack.
