Amazon Web Services (AWS) is intensifying its efforts in Vietnam, emphasizing cloud adoption and the cultivation of local talent to propel the nation’s digital evolution and set the stage for future technological advancements and economic growth.
Having established legal entities in Ho Chi Minh City in 2017 and Hanoi in 2019, AWS has become a cornerstone for leading Vietnamese enterprises such as Masan Group and VietJet Air, spearheading the utilization of cloud services.
AWS’s strategy pivots on significant investments in three pivotal domains: fostering local talent, expanding infrastructure, and advancing skills development. By nurturing a proficient local workforce, AWS distinguishes itself in the Vietnamese market, particularly attracting major financial institutions like VIB, Techcombank, and VPBank. This strategic move is instrumental in expediting the digital transformation journeys of AWS’ customers.
Moreover, AWS demonstrates its commitment to infrastructure enhancement, injecting billions of dollars into the Asia Pacific region. This commitment is evident through the deployment of AWS Outposts in 2021, the establishment of two edge locations in 2022, and the forthcoming announcement of a Local Zone, all geared towards fortifying the digital capabilities of Vietnamese businesses.
Eric Yeo, the country manager for AWS Vietnam, underscores the company’s proactive stance in skills and talent development. AWS has launched extensive training and certification programs in Vietnam, laying a robust foundation for the digital transformation endeavors of local enterprises and professionals.
