Event Summary
Thailand’s cloud and data center market could be on the verge of greatness. As the second-largest economy in ASEAN continues to improve its international connectivity, multinational companies are eyeing it for investment. But as these improvements are made and more of the population goes online, broadband quality and energy sustainability become increasingly pressing challenges for the market to overcome.
Moves are being made by ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, Amazon Web Services, Halliburton, and Orient Link/NEC Corporation to strengthen connectivity and enable digital transformation in the country.
Support for a digital future is also coming from the Thai Government with a $146.6 million Government Data Center & Cloud (GDCC), owned and operated by the state.
With 61% of Thailand’s gross domestic product expected to be digitalised by 2022, and 95% of the population with broadband access by 2023, this market is quickly becoming one of the most interesting case studies in the region.
