Aqaba Digital Hub Set to Launch Jordan’s Largest Data Center

The Aqaba Digital Hub, a landmark project that taps into the growing demand for modern digital transformation, is all set to inaugurate Jordan’s largest data center by the close of 2023.

According to a report from the Jordan News Agency, the CEO of ADH, Eyad Abu Khorma, stated that the center has generated 300 job opportunities, both directly and indirectly, for the Aqaba community since commencing the construction of the JD100 million ($141 million) project.

The new data center with a capacity of 6 megawatts, has been integrated with a neutral internet exchange point, facilitating seamless data exchange with local telecommunications companies, internet service providers, and digital content providers. This integration significantly reduces access times and minimizes the expenses associated with data sharing.\

The primary objective of this initiative is to establish a secure platform for sensitive data in compliance with international standards. The facility will serve as both a primary data center and a backup center, ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery.

Abu Khorma emphasized that the center has forged partnerships with major global corporations, enabling the provision of expertise and skills through tailored training programs and workshops. Additionally, collaborative efforts with governmental and educational institutions have been undertaken to empower the local Aqaba community.

Furthermore, Abu Khorma highlighted Jordan‘s emergence as a pivotal global hub and distribution point for submarine cables connecting Europe and India.

Jordan’s strategic location in the Middle East makes it a gateway between Europe, Asia, and Africa. This geographical advantage can make it a hub for data traffic between these regions.
