AMD secures up to 2.5 GW of US data center capacity from Core Scientific

Core Scientific, a digital infrastructure company, has announced a partnership under which chipmaker AMD will secure up to 2.5 GW of data center capacity to support deployments of its AI solutions.

Starting in 2027, AMD will have access to over 500 MW of infrastructure in the US with the option to scale this capacity according to a press release.

With this capacity, AMD will give its customers the opportunity to deploy AI faster and at greater scale. In addition, Core Scientific and AMD will collaborate on physical infrastructure design and the deployment of AMD Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs and ROCm software at data centers. AMD will receive market-priced warrants to buy Core Scientific common stock, subject to certain commercial conditions.

During Core Scientific’s Q2 2026 earnings call, Adam Sullivan, Core Scientific Chief Executive Officer, said that the partnership represents US$ 14 billion in base contracted revenue across the agreements that span 15 years.

“We are proud to establish a strategic relationship with AMD and support the continued deployment of its next-generation products,” said Sullivan. “Our proven execution capabilities and ability to deliver high-density infrastructure at scale position us to support AMD’s technology roadmap and grow our relationship meaningfully over time.”

“Core Scientific’s extensive portfolio of AI-ready data centers expands access to the infrastructure our customers need to deploy AMD AI solutions at scale. Together, we are helping model builders, cloud providers and enterprises accelerate AI adoption while strengthening the AMD ecosystem,” said Mathew Hein, AMD Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Corporate Development.

The initial capacity will be delivered across five sites. As much as 380 MW will be made available in Pecos, Texas, Hunt, Texas, and Muskogee, Oklahoma, with the remaining 150 MW supporting an AMD neocloud deployment across facilities in Auburn, Alabama, and Dalton, Georgia.

At its Advancing AI 2026 event this month, AMD projected that demand across its silicon would push its total addressable market to about US$ 2 trillion by 2030, with data center AI accelerators, which this deal serves, set to be the largest single portion of that projection.

For Core Scientific, this deal continues its shift away from crypto mining. Most of the company’s revenue now comes from high-density colocation for AI workloads, with its remaining mining facilities being repurposed to that end.
