ZTE Corporation, an ICT solutions provider, has partnered with AIS, a Thai mobile operator, and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. to successfully complete the trial of mmWave SA (5G Standalone Architecture) technology at the AZ center in Bangkok.

This move establishes Thailand as a frontrunner in the ASEAN region for mmWave exploration and also signifies a significant leap forward in the country’s efforts to commercialize mmWave technology, meeting the diverse needs of consumers and industries alike.

During the trial, the 5G mmWave SA technology demonstrated remarkable downlink speeds of 7.04Gbps under the DDDSU frame structure, accompanied by impressive uplink speeds of 2.12Gbps under the DSUUU frame structure.

Additionally, the end-to-end latency of less than 4ms ensures a seamless and responsive user experience for critical applications such as online gaming, virtual reality, and autonomous vehicles.

This cutting-edge technology’s high throughput and minimal data transmission delay open up a world of possibilities for both businesses and consumers, providing immediate and uninterrupted connectivity between users and their devices.

The successful mmWave SA showcase is expected to serve as a catalyst for the rapid commercial advancement of 5G mmWave technology in Thailand, further solidifying the nation’s position as a trailblazer in the 5G landscape.

Aside from 5G mmWave technology, Thailand also positions itself as as among the preferred destination for data center investments in Southeast Asia

Thailand’s data center and cloud services markets are expected to grow between 2022 and 2027 thanks to a digitally-savvy population and the government’s efforts to promote a more connected society.
