AFR reports that Fujitsu is looking to auction off Australian data centers

An article published in The Australian Financial review [June 28th] reports that Fujitsu is considering auctioning off its data centers in Australia and that the company has called in Sayers Advisory to oversee the process of auctioning the six Fujitsu Data centers in Australia (a process named “Project Emerald”).

Fujitsu’s Australian data centers cover around 24,000m² with a combined ‘ultimate’ capacity of just over 90 MW according to data on the company’s website which references also over 50 years of experience in the Australian data centre market.

The facilities are located in Greystanes, Homebush, North Ryde (all in New South Wales), Noble Park (Victoria), Eight Mile Plains (Queensland) and Malaga in Western Australia. Across these sites Fujitsu offers colocation and associated services. All of the facilities have obtained NABERS certification.

The announcement follows Fujitsu’s exit from data centres in the USA last year and some suggestion that the company may follow a similar path with its data centres in South America.
