Accounting software giant Xero is suffering a global outage across the morning of 31st August AEST. It reported that “some users may be experiencing errors logging in or navigating to Xero”.
The timing of the outage – at the end of the month – is likely to impact many businesses adversely as accounts teams work to settle up their end-of-month accounts and conclude end-of-month transactions, close their accounts for July and make changes to the payroll before paying staff which falls for a large number of businesses on the 1st of the month.

The latest online post from the company at around noon AEST on 31st July states that Xero is ‘investigating’ and that “We are aware some customers are now able to login to Xero. Our teams are continuing to investigate this issue with urgency and we’re closely working with our third-party provider, AWS. We thank customers for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience”.  AWS (or Amazon Web Services) are named, presumably as the host of Xero’s cloud-based software systems around the world.

The New Zealand-based company has over 4.2 million subscribers across the world and is focused on providing ‘one stop’ accounting software for small to medium  organisations.
