Malaysia’s Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk) and Global Vision Lab Sdn Bhd (GVL) are exploring a proposed artificial intelligence data center (AIDC)  development in Perak with planned capacity exceeding 100MW, according to PKNPk press release yesterday.

To date, only a non-disclosure agreement and a letter of consent have been signed; as such more specific details like the full scope is not available.

Under the agreement, PKNPk will handle state-level stakeholders while GVL is responsible for development planning and preliminary assessments.

“The initiative supports the aspirations of Perak Sejahtera 2030 and creates opportunities for Perak to emerge as a destination for the development of high-technology digital infrastructure,” said PKNPk chief executive Datuk Redza Rafiq.

Perak is a state that lies north of Selangor state and Klang Valley where Kuala Lumpur and Cyberjaya, the current data center hubs are located in central Peninsular Malaysia.
