Multiple Google Cloud services in Europe are experiencing elevated errors and intermittent network failures as part of a service interruption that emerged earlier today, impacting several UK businesses including banks, delivery services, and the NHS.
According to Google Cloud’s status page, its europe-west2 region has experienced multiple issues since early Tuesday morning. While it contends with the issues, Google Cloud has advised that customers try to migrate their workloads to another available location.
British financial technology firm and digital bank Revolut is among the businesses impacted by the Google outage. In a message posted to X, it told customers that their data and money are safe.
“We are currently experiencing a service disruption affecting multiple services. We can confirm that all our customers’ money and data are safe. We’ve been working to fix the issue since it was identified this morning and apologise to anyone affected and for any inconvenience caused,” the company wrote.
Outage tracking website Downdetector shows service problems spiking for Lloyds Bank, Royal Mail, HSBC, Halifax, and the NHS. It’s unclear if all these service issues are related to the Google Cloud outage. Outages also appear to be affecting websites like Rightmove, DPD, and SiteGround. Even supermarket chain Asda began experiencing issues at the time of the Google Cloud outage.
Google Cloud engineers continue to investigate the issues and expect to provide an update with current details by 05:00 PDT on Tuesday October 20, 2026. The company has not said when it expects the issues to be resolved.
