SC Capital Partners, a Singaporean private equity and real estate investment company, in partnership with NeoAI Cloud, a South Korean AI-focused cloud infrastructure provider, has invested in a 40 MW artificial intelligence data center project in Pohang, South Korea. The project has also secured investment from government backed capital, providing public sector support for the regional AI infrastructure development.

According to a press release, the purpose-built facility is designed to handle high-density AI workloads and will feature liquid cooling technology to support graphics processing units (GPUs), including NVIDIA Vera Rubin. The data center has secured 40 MW of gross power capacity and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. The facility would also combine high-density data center infrastructure with GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) and AI platform capabilities to support global companies developing AI models and operating AI services.

“We are excited to complete this investment, which represents our continued expansion into digital infrastructure in Asia Pacific. The development benefits from strong underlying fundamentals and is well positioned to serve the evolving requirements of the digital economy,” said, Suchad Chiaranussati, Chairman and Founder, SC Capital Partners. “We remain focused on identifying high-quality opportunities, particularly in South Korea, where strong policy support for AI and digital infrastructure is contributing to a favourable environment for the sector, and working with experienced local partners to deliver investments that create long-term value for our investors.”

Jonathan Yongwan Jo, CEO of NeoAI Cloud, said, “The Pohang AI data center is envisioned to go beyond traditional colocation by leveraging high-density infrastructure space integrated with GPUaaS and AI platform capabilities to provide a high-performance foundation for global enterprises to develop AI models and operate services. Building on the successful delivery of this initial 40 MW phase, we plan to advance a second phase expansion of 260 MW and look forward to a continued partnership with SC Capital Partners.”

The project has received power approval and building permits, and construction is underway. It has also secured an anchor tenant, with additional interest in the remaining IT capacity. The investment expands SC Capital Partners’ presence in South Korea’s digital infrastructure sector, as demand for computing capacity grows alongside the adoption of AI technologies.

NeoAI Cloud plans to develop a second phase with an additional 260 MW of capacity, bringing the project’s planned total capacity to 300 MW.
