China telco firm China Mobile International (CMI) and Malaysian property developer Quill Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) last week to jointly explore developing potential green data center and digital infrastructure projects in Malaysia. The MOU will also look at partnership models and customer opportunities with the aim of supporting growing AI workloads, cloud computing, and big data demands, according to the firms’ joint statement.
Under the MOU, CMI will provide its international connectivity resources, cloud services, and technical operational experience, while Quill Group will leverage its local integrated project management, property development, and construction capabilities.
The firms noted that any specific projects or commercial joint ventures resulting from the collaboration will be further assessed and finalized through separate, binding agreements.

Founded in 1987, Quill Group is a Malaysian multidisciplinary group with interests spanning property development and construction, automotive, retail, healthcare, renewable energy and related services. It first developed data centers in Cyberjaya, Selangor, in 2002. The data centers include the Quill 1 and Quill 4 DHL Global Information Services and Data Centres, as well as the HSBC Global Electronic Data Processing Centre, according to its website.
