Empyrion Digital, a Singapore-headquartered data centre platform, has recently topped out the first phase of its maiden data center in Malaysia, a 40MW facilty which is part of its 200MW campus in Johor. Phase 1 is expected to be ready for service in Q1 2027, according to the firm’s Linkedin posting.
In December, w.media reported that Empyrion launched the 200MW Johor Data Centre Campus (“MY1”) to be developed across 34.9 acres of land. It was initially scheduled to be ready for service in Q4 2026 but has now been postponed to Q1 2027.
The company has secured 145MW of initial power allocation from national utility company Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) which will be supplemented by other green energy providers via Memorandums of Understanding.
Considered one of the largest green data centre campuses in Malaysia, MY1 will be delivered across 5 phases of 40MW each. Located in Nusajaya within the SiLC Industrial Cluster of Johor, MY1 will incorporate state-of-the-art liquid and air-cooled technologies, targeting a PUE below 1.3 for liquid cooling and below 1.4 for air cooling.
Once completed, MY1 will join Empyrion Digital’s growing regional platform, which includes operational and development projects in Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, and Bangkok.
