Google has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with RWE Americas, a subsidiary of German energy company RWE, for the total 155 MW output from the Crooked Creek Solar project in McCurtain County, Oklahoma.
The PPA will help power Google’s operations in the Southwest Power Pool market and is expected to generate an estimated US$ 24.3 million in local economic activity and another US$ 1.4 million in state and local tax revenue for McCurtain County according to a press release. Neither Google nor RWE Americas has stated the value of the power purchase agreement.
“This agreement with Google marks an important milestone for RWE Americas and reflects the growing demand for affordable, reliable, domestically produced energy. Crooked Creek Solar demonstrates how strategic partnerships can accelerate new energy development while creating jobs, generating local tax revenue and strengthening communities,” said Ingmar Ritzenhofen, RWE Americas Chief Commercial Officer.
“Supporting a strong, stable, affordable grid is a top priority as we expand our infrastructure. Our agreement with RWE adds critical new generation to the local system, boosting the amount of affordable and reliable power supply for Oklahoma and the region,” said Will Conkling, Google Director of Energy and Power.
RWE will start construction on the Crooked Creek Solar project later this year with commercial operation expected in 2028. Once complete, the energy company says it will generate US$ 25 million in revenue for various McCurtain County programs.
In May, Google signed a similar, albeit far larger, PPA with Linea Energy covering 500 MW from the Duffy Solar Project in Matagorda County, Texas. Construction on the solar project is scheduled to begin this quarter.
These PPAs and others build on Google’s efforts to purchase clean energy. According to the firm’s 2026 Environmental Report, between 2010 and 2025, the company signed over 240 agreements to purchase nearly 35 GW of energy globally. In 2025 alone, Google signed agreements for 12 GW of net-new clean energy.
Google opened its first data center in Oklahoma in Pryor, Mayes County, in 2011. In 2025, it announced that it was investing US$ 9 billion into developing a new data center campus in Stillwater, Payne County, and two new data center campuses in Summit and Council Hill in Muskogee County. That investment will also be used to expand its facility in Pryor.
