NTT Global Data Centers (NTT GDC) in a first time collaboration with Fuji Electric (Thailand) Co.,Ltd. in Thailand, broke ground recently on a data center substation project to support NTT GDC Chonburi campus. The project also marks Fuji Electric’s first data center substation project in Thailand, according to the Linkedin posts of both companies.

The project comprises a comprehensive 115kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Substation solution featuring locally manufactured components such as the 115kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), 115kV Power transformers, Medium Voltage (MV) Cast Resin and Oil-Immersed Transformers and Medium Voltage / Low Voltage (MV/LV) Switchboards.

Earlier this year, w.media had reported on NTT GDC’s purchase of land to develop its new Bangkok 5 (BKK5) data center, its fourth site in Thailand’s Chonburi industrial area, joining BKK2, BKK3, along with the newly secured land for BKK4. Together, these locations would form the NTT GDC Chonburi campus. The company also signed a 100MW power purchase agreement with Amata B.Grimm Power for its Bangkok BKK4 site.

NTT GDC operates multiple facilities in Thailand and is undertaking ongoing expansion of its Chonburi campus.
