French company Policloud, which builds distributed AI and sovereign cloud infrastructure, has announced plans to accelerate its international expansion with installations across Europe, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and the United States. The announcement was made on the sidelines of the World AI Cannes Festival 2026.

According to a press release, Policloud plans to scale rapidly, targeting 100 operational units with more than 25,000 GPUs by the end of 2026, and aiming for 1,000 units and 250,000 GPUs by 2030. Each unit is designed for energy efficiency, using existing grids and renewable sources to reduce setup times, operational costs, and carbon footprint, while avoiding the structural constraints of traditional data centers.

Since launching its first project in Cannes last year, the company has completed eight installations in under six months, deploying over 1,200 GPUs and securing €10.50 million (US$12.44 million) in contracts.

Projects are already under development in France, the United Arab Emirates, and Texas, serving clients across public services, energy, agriculture, and industrial sectors. By focusing on locally governed, distributed infrastructure, Policloud presents itself as a “sovereign” alternative to hyperscale cloud providers, responding to rising demand for AI computing and global pressures on energy and computing capacity.

The company’s expansion underscores a broader trend in AI infrastructure: distributed, high-performance systems that can scale quickly and operate efficiently across multiple regions, rather than relying on centralized data centers.
