Social media giant Meta, and Spanish renewable energy company, Zelestra, are expanding their clean energy collaboration with a new power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 176 MWdc (136 MWac) Skull Creek Solar Plant in Texas. The project, located in Anderson, Texas, is currently under development and is expected to reach operational status in May 2027, after which it will deliver power into the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid.
The PPAs aim to enable adequate power supply for Meta’s various projects including data centers in the state. Meta already has operational data centers in Fort Worth and Temple in Texas, and a third AI mega project is being planned in El Paso.
In a press release Zeletra revealed, “Zelestra and Meta now have PPAs for approximately 1.2 GWdc of solar capacity across seven US projects, all of which are scheduled to be operational by 2028. Two of the projects entered construction late last year, with the remainder due to go into construction in 2026.” The announcement follows Zelestra’s recent completion of the 81 MWdc Jasper County Solar Project in Indiana, the first project under the partnership to become operational.

We are delighted to welcome full operations at Jasper County and start of construction at two further major projects.” He further said, “At the same time as closing another major agreement that will enable the construction of Skull Creek in Texas. Thanks to our forward-looking partnership, nearly 1.2 GWdc of new clean solar power will soon be operational in the US.”
Readers would recall that in January 2025, Meta and Zelestra had signed four new Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements (EAPAs) for the construction of four solar projects with a total capacity of 720 MWdc. Under the EAPAs, those projects aimed to deliver electricity into the ERCOT grid with the clean energy supporting Meta’s data center operations. The projects are located in Hopkins, Lamar, Lampasas, and Henderson Counties.
Zelestra, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, is developing about 15 GW of renewable energy projects in the U.S., targeting hyperscalers and other corporate partners with multi-technology solutions.
